Natural Habitat Gardening & Willow Weaving
Spring 2025 update
The Pacific Chorus Frogs are back, Spring is here and I’m busy getting as many plants into the ground and weaving as much as I possibly can!
*Please excuse the rough edges of this website, I would rather be in the garden or weaving than formatting text and photos so it’s a work in progress!
Frog & Twig will be at the following events this Spring & Summer:
Good Year Farms Spring Equinox Experience March 21 & 22 10am-3pm. I’ll have a bunch of willow and hazel obelisks, plant supports and garden art for sale!
Community Links: A Collaborative Art Project at the Camas Public Library March 27th, 2025 4:30-5:30. I’ll be leading a group to create a collaborative 100% natural woven willow & hazel chain to encircle the library’s Camas Earth Day display, the chain will represent the important part we all play as links in the web of life on Earth. Free but you must register at the link to attend this class.
Camas Plant and Garden Fair May 10th. Find me at or near the Camas Earth Day Society Booth. *I may just be here helping at the Camas Earth Day Society or Nature’s Haven booth, I haven’t decided if I will be able to make enough to sell, but I’ll definitely be there in some capacity!
Vancouver Bee Project’s Pollinator Festival June 21st. Again, find me at the Camas Earth Day Society Booth, we’ll have some fun little project or something to share.
Please follow me on Instagram or Facebook for updates on openings and special projects or classes or check back here anytime.

Erin Figy – Native Plant & Habitat Garden Designer | Willow Weaver and Twig Artist
I’m passionate about native plants and habitat-friendly gardening. I focus on using natibe plants and sustainable, natural materials and eco friendly methods to create gardens that enhance biodiversity and support birds, frogs, pollinators and other creatures and plants throughout their life cycles. For many years, I’ve cultivated vibrant garden spaces on minimal budgets using locally sourced plants and promoting a community of sharing—whether it’s plants, knowledge, or discoveries in the garden. Most of my early involvement was as a school garden coordinator, volunteer, and friend. For the past 17 years, I also worked as a registered nurse. I love nursing—but not so much the healthcare system (you all know what I mean). After many years of 12-hour hospital shifts, I needed a change. So, I obtained my landscaping contractor’s license, and Frog & Twig was born!
I chose the name Frog & Twig to reflect the two main focuses of my business, habitat gardening (Pacific Chorus Frogs are my magic) and my Completely Normal Interest in growing, sorting, grading, collecting, harvesting, bundling, drying, storing, rehydrating, steaming, thinking about, reading about and finally weaving and experimenting with sticks, twigs and other natural weaveable material.
My willow art is 100% natural and biodegradable, designed to change with time rather than outlast you in a landfill. Nature reclaims my work, and I love that! I grow and harvest my own willow and other native weavable (especially beaked hazel) plants in my garden and a small family plot in Camas.
I grow many dozens of native plant species and various colorful basketry willow varieties In my own East Vancouver suburban Backyard Habitat Certified garden. Adding native plants to any garden brings an immediate reward—new insects, birds, and endless new things to notice and be amazed by. I keep track of the species that visit my garden using iNaturalist. I also love sharing plants and have donated hundreds to schools and community gardens.
Plants are my friendship language. If you are my friend I have given you plants and probably offered to plant willows in your garden. I love that this gets to be my actual job!
Feel free to reach out using my contact form with questions or to discuss how I can help you reach your habitat garden goals! You can also email me directly at frogandtwig@gmail.com

School & Community Garden Consultation
Schools and community spaces are ideal for native plant gardens—benefiting both people and wildlife. I love community and educational gardens. There are SO many community spaces that would benefit from even the smallest garden - all it takes is someone to adopt the space, maybe that’s you?
I designed, manage and provide the native plants for the Backyard Habitat Garden at Illahee Elementary and the Pollinator Garden at the Camas Public Library and I co-designed the Prune Hill Elementary Living Lab outdoor space with the Camas Earth Day Society. I also volunteer for the adopt-a-park program at Pacific Park in East Vancouver, removing invasive species and replanting native plants.
I would love to share my love of educational gardening with you and discuss your project ideas, and share the any insights I have based on my own experiences. If you are thinking of starting a low or no budget backyard habitat garden at a school or non profit feel free to reach out and we can chat! Come volunteer with me at one of the locations I listed and I’ll be sure you leave with plenty of plants to get your new educational/ community garden started!
